Sick time accrual is based on Massachusetts Earned Sick Time State Policy. Employees accrue paid sick time at a rate of 0.0334 hours per 1 hour worked (or one hour for every 30 hours worked). Employees may carry over up to 40 hours of accrued sick leave into the following calendar year; however, employees may not use more than 40 hours of paid sick leave per calendar year. Any planned “sick time” absences for scheduled appointments for yourself, your partner/spouse, your child(ren), your parents or your partner/spouse's parents should be made 7 days in advance of the appointment and requires approval from your supervisor. When at all possible, only 1 staff per discipline should be out for planned “sick time” absences. Only 1 staff per program (MeadowLARK, SkyLARK) should be out for planned “sick time” absences. Supervisors may need to make exceptions to these guidelines on a case by case basis.
Employees can accrue up to 40 hours of vacation time following a 90 day probationary period.

Parental Leave Policy
Employees may be eligible to take up to eight weeks of leave as necessary following the birth of a child, adoption of a child under the age of 18 (or 23 if the child has a mental or physical disability), or placement of a child with the employee pursuant to a court order. If both parents work for The Lark Center, the employees will be limited to a total of eight weeks of parental leave for the birth or adoption of the child. To be eligible, employees must have completed at least three consecutive months of full-time employment with The Lark Center. To the extent possible, employees must provide two weeks advance notice of their need for leave and intended return date. Employees must be prepared to provide The Lark Center with certification to verify the employee's eligibility for the leave requested.
Leave is unpaid; however, employees may use accrued paid time off for this purpose. Upon return from leave, employees will generally be restored to their previous position, or a similar position with the same status, pay, length of service credit and seniority as of the date of leave unless economic conditions or other changes in operating conditions affect employment during the period of leave.
