Description
We are seeking a neurodiversity-affirming speech–language pathologist who has experience working with AAC and is deeply committed to empowering individuals with communication differences. You will be a key player in helping our clients achieve their communication goals while providing a warm, supportive, and inclusive environment. You will:
- Provide AAC therapy services in schools to individuals with diverse communication needs
- Collaborate with families, schools, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure clients receive comprehensive support
- Support clients in finding their voice through AAC, using the most appropriate technology and strategies
- Provide training and support to families and caregivers in using AAC systems at home and in the community
The time commitment is 20–25 hours per week to start, with the opportunity to grow into a full-time position. It is a 10 month school calendar position with potential for additional hours during Extended School Year. The annual estimate, above, is based on working just 20–25 hours per week.
The SLP will also have access to loaner devices and AAC apps at no cost to them for training and evaluation purposes.
Skills And Competencies
- Experience with implementation of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices is required, plus a strong understanding of the role of AAC in communication
- Experience with gestalt language processing and the natural language acquisition framework is preferred
- A neurodiversity-affirming mindset and a commitment to inclusive, client-centered care
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Passion for empowering clients to communicate and thrive

Compensation is provided at an hourly rate for both direct and indirect time. The therapist will be compensated for documentation time (e.g., session note writing and evaluation report writing).
Note that this is a part-time position, expecting 20–25 hours per week to start, with the opportunity to grow into a full-time position.
The annual estimate listed at the top is based on this part-time load.
Client Availability and Impact on Pay
The therapist will be paid for hours worked. Since services are provided in schools, cancellations are not an issue. Option to grow into a full time position is likely.
