Description
The speech–language pathologist position is to identify students with communication disorders/disabilities; planning and implementing appropriate treatment to minimize adverse impact on student success by recommending treatment plans and providing direct therapy.

Pay Rate Determiners
Pay is based on years experience as an SLP and additional education beyond a master's degree. For example, a person who is just starting their first year as an SLP needing CFY would be at the $55,866 while a person with 30 years experience and additional college credits would be at $91,400. However there is some flexibility with pay.

Schedule
Work days are 8am to 4pm following the school schedule for the school year. 187 total working days.
Additional Work Hours
Rarely for parent-teacher-conference nights, but flex time is available.
PTO
14 Discretionary days are allowed per school year. Typically 3 days notice are required, but when sick, notification should be a soon as known to be sick.
Holidays
For the 2025–2026 school year, the federal holidays that the school is open are Columbus Day, Veterans Day, MLK, and President's Day. All other federal days will be off. All 187 school days are paid the same.
Productivity Requirements
Should be able to provide services for assigned students. If student number is increasing, discuss with the director so additional help can be arranged.
Caseload Cap
Montana does not have a specific caseload cap, but the largest we have had in the past 5 years from any SLP is 36 students receiving services for 22 hours per week.

We do follow FMLA. Staff do have 14 discretionary days per school year along with any unused banked days from prior years.

Training program: When completing a CF, we follow the ASHA supervision time requirements. SLPs should be independent by the following year, but of course can still network with other SLPs for discussion/assistance.
