• Performs intermediate professional work locating, identifying and serving speech/language impaired students

• Preparing and maintaining student and program records, preparing reports, and related work as apparent or assigned

   

Responsibilities:

• Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices and procedures of speech and language diagnosis and therapy
• Thorough knowledge of casework methods and procedures
• Thorough knowledge of local, state and federal resources, programs, procedures, laws, rules and regulations
• Ability to conduct interviews, assessments and diagnosis effectively and analyze needs and problems objectively
• Ability to communicate ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with children, students, parents, staff, administration and the general public.

186 contracted days following the District Calendar between the hours of 7:30 am–4 pm (building dependent). The basic duty day, exclusive of lunch, shall be 7 hours and 15 minutes.

May be required to participate in professional activities beyond the basic duty day. Among those activities are faculty meetings, parent conferences, committee meetings, in-service training sessions, open houses and orientation sessions. If an unforeseen emergency arises, the principal may require the staff to assist beyond the basic duty day.
