Comments from Informed Jobs staff:

"JoAnne Berns, the owner of this clinic, also works with The Informed SLP as a writer! I've worked with her since 2019, and she's truly a wonderful person. This looks like an excellent opportunity for someone wanting to work only half-days!" – Meredith H.

Setting

Private Practice: Pediatric, Preschool, Elementary School

Description

Our clinician-owned private pediatric practice is seeking to add an SLP to our team for part-time school based therapy. We have two available options:

8 to noon, M–F, 20 hours per week

Perfect for someone who wants to work only mornings, to leave afternoons open for other things.

... or after school 3–5pm, M–R, 8–10 hours per week

Perfect for a school-based SLP who wants to add 8–10 hours/week and earn an extra $500–$650 per week. The scheduling is flexible, with two 4-hour blocks, three 3-hour blocks, or another combination that fits your schedule!

This is a great opportunity for an SLP who wants meaningful work, a manageable caseload, and a voice in shaping their day-to-day practice. You’ll be joining a team that truly “gets it,” founded by therapists, built for therapists, and dedicated to making school-based therapy rewarding and sustainable.

Median Pay and Range

This is an W2, hourly pay, part-time position with no benefits. Other part-time SLPs in similar roles at our group (~20 hours per week) make about 4–5k per month or 50–60k per year.

Full Pay Rate for All Hours Worked?

Yes, as below:

  • Clinicians are compensated for both direct service and documentation time. Each 30-minute client session includes an additional 10-minutes of paid time to complete a brief SOAP note and perform related administrative tasks.
    • This allowance is applied per session. For example, six (6) sessions in one day will include sixty (60) minutes of total documentation time. Providers are expected to complete all notes on the same day the sessions occur, unless otherwise approved. Documentation time is flexible and can be completed remotely or in office.
  • Clinicians are paid for unplanned absences (under 24 hours notice) and if the child cancels with less than 2 weeks notice they are billed/you are paid and then the family has 30 days to schedule a make-up session with you (at a time the clinician decides works best).

Client Availability and Impact on Pay

  • Clinicians are paid for late cancellations (under 24 hours).
  • Clinicians are not paid for advance-notice cancellations.
  • We are closed for all federal and most school holidays (except summer break). Clinicians are not paid when we are closed.

Pay Rate Determiners

This is our minimum and maximum. Low end would be a first year SLP with CCCs. High end would be a clinician with 10+ years of experience in pediatrics who seamlessly fits in with our team and can do the job well with relative independence.

Benefits

After 1 year of employment employees are eligible to participate in our 401k program with company matching. We do not offer health insurance.

Stipends (taxed)

None

Reimbursements (untaxed)

The company will provide:

  • A laptop
  • Access to Simple Practice EHR
  • All treatment and assessment materials. Requests for new materials are welcome throughout the year.
  • You are also eligible for reimbursement of up to $1,000 per year for expenses you incur related to your professional licensure (e.g., ASHA fees) and pre-approved continuing education (“CEUs”).

Quality

Schedule

We have two options available right now:

  • 8 to noon, M–F, 20 hours per week. Clock in at 8am and clock out at 12pm from M–F. Live documentation is encouraged though we know it isn't always possible with wiggly little ones!
  • Or after school 3–5pm, M–R, 8–10 hours per week

Additional Work Hours

None

PTO

Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off (PTO) or paid sick leave. Time away from work, including for illness or personal reasons, will be unpaid.

Holidays

We are closed for federal holidays and most school holidays (except summer break). Holidays are unpaid.

Productivity Requirements

No, we trust you to be reasonably productive. Ideally, you have 80–90% attendance each week.

Caseload Cap

We don't have one, but all sessions are one-on-one. The 20 hour per week position would be approximately 30 individual children. Some seen 1x/wk for 30 minutes, others 2x/wk.

Dedicated Space

Qualifications

Skills And Competencies

Our ideal SLP is warm, patient, and loves to work with younger children ages 2–5. Someone that kids, teachers, and parents genuinely enjoy working with. You should have a natural sense for connecting with others, reading the room, and communicating with warmth and clarity. Attention to detail and problem-solving ability are key. We can teach you our systems and software, and we’ll support you in using evidence-based treatment approaches. The magic we’re really looking for is you: your kindness, creativity, and ability to make each session fun, engaging, and effective. If you’re the type of clinician who can make a child feel seen, a teacher feel supported, and a parent feel hopeful, you’ll fit right in here!

Required Qualifications

State licenses: Tennessee

CCCs required: Yes

Other required qualifications: Must have a drivers license and be willing to complete a background check.

Other

Does the Contract Include a Non-compete or Non-solicitation?

Yes. When the company introduces or assigns an employee to a school, facility, or client site, that placement is considered a company referral and business relationship. To protect these partnerships, employees agree not to seek or accept direct employment or contract work with that school, facility, or any of its students or clients for a period of two (2) years following the last date of assignment through the company, unless written consent is provided by the company. This restriction applies to both direct and indirect arrangements, including but not limited to subcontracting, consulting, or providing services through another organization. The purpose of this policy is to preserve the company’s investment in developing and maintaining school and client relationships.

Clinical Fellowship

Accepts CFs? Yes

% of SLPs in company who are CFs: 12%

CF supervision provided: Yes

Training program: We typically accept one strong CF a year. This year we accepted a CF who taught kindergarten for 20 years before going to grad school and switching to our field. We currently have one CF and do not plan on taking another at this time.
