Duff Allen Central Elementary School and Floyd Central High School are looking to hire three SLPs. Two positions are 205 days and one is 240 days.

On top of your yearly pay, you will receive a stipend of $5,800.00 if you have a teaching certification. If not, the stipend is figured into your salary.

School days, 8 am–3 pm. We have 3 positions. 1 is 240 days and 2 is for 205 days. The position is for 6.5 hours per day 5 days per week. You will get the same days off as students.

Sick days: Full time employees with up to 219 contract days shall be entitled to eleven (11) days of sick leave with pay annually.

Full time employees with 240 contract days shall be entitled to thirteen (13) days of sick leave with pay annually.

Persons employed for less than a full year contract due to a mid-year hire shall receive a prorata part of the authorized sick leave days calculated to the nearest one-half (1/2) day.

Persons employed on a full year contract but scheduled for less than a full work day shall receive the authorized sick leave days equivalent to their normal working day.

Personal days: Full time employees shall be entitled to three (3) days of personal leave with pay each school year.

Persons employed for less than a full year contract shall receive a prorata part of the authorized personal leave days calculated to the nearest one-half (1/2) day.

Persons employed on a full year contract but scheduled for less than a full work day shall receive the authorized personal leave days equivalent to their normal working day.

Emergency days: Regular full time employees shall be entitled to two (2) days of emergency leave with pay each school year.

Persons employed for less than a full year contract shall receive a prorata part of the authorized emergency leave days calculated to the nearest half day.

 

Leave days not taken during the school year in which they were granted shall accumulate without limitation to the credit of the employee to whom they were granted. Each employee shall be given, on or before September 1 of each school year, a statement of accumulated and current sick leave days

Holidays

All full-time employees shall be paid for four (4) holidays (Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Years Day) which shall be designated in the official school calendar. These are part of the school year required by state law. Personnel employed on a twelve month basis shall be paid for two (2) additional holidays (Memorial Day and Independence Day) as specified in the Board calendar.

Parental Leave Policy

Childbirth and recovery therefrom, which prevent the employee from performing assigned duties, shall entitle the employee to sick leave benefits as provided in Board Policy 03.1232.

An illness of the newborn shall entitle the employee to sick leave benefits as provided in Board Policy 03.1232.

An employee may use up to thirty (30) days of sick leave immediately following the birth or adoption of a child or children. Additional sick leave days may be used when the need is verified by a physician’s statement.

On written request, the parent of a newborn or the employee who adopts a child or children shall be granted unpaid leave of absence not to exceed the remainder of the school year in which the birth or placement occurred. Thereafter, leave may be extended in increments of no more than one (1) year.

Qualifications

Skills And Competencies

  • Prepares written evaluations and maintains records which clearly and succinctly document services provided, student progress and discharge from therapy as recommended to the Admissions & Release Committee.
  • Complies with evaluations standards and determine eligibility for services based on the Kentucky Eligibility Guidelines for Communication Disorders.
  • Communicates test results, diagnosis and proposed treatment plans to the Admissions and Release Committee.
  • Participates in the multidisciplinary team process regarding eligibility issues, Individual Education Plan (IEP) development, consultation services and service delivery models.
  • Ensures compliance with established state and federal laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Prepares reports as needed by the local school district and/or the KY Department of Education.
  • Develops treatment plans consistent with the IEP.
  • Reviews therapy goals and objectives and make recommendations for changes as appropriate to the Admissions & Release Committee.
  • Employs instructional/therapeutic methods and materials that are appropriate for meeting each student’s goals and objectives.
  • Assesses, selects and develops augmentative and/or alternative communication systems and provide training in their use.
  • Participates in hearing screening programs to identify and refer students with suspected hearing impairment and/or middle ear disorders.
  • Communicates with students who have disorders of communication, their families, caregivers and other service providers relative to the student’s disability and its management.
  • Assists in development of classroom activities to meet the communication needs of the student.
  • Communicates with appropriate agencies, schools and other organizations as needed in order to meet the needs of students with communication disabilities.
