Private Practice: Pediatric
Description
Our clinician-owned private pediatric practice is seeking to add an SLP to our team for after-school and/or weekend therapy. This is an excellent opportunity for an SLP who is seeking part-time work outside of primary employment in a school setting. Our clients span early intervention, preschool, and school-age (K-12) populations. The clinic has a warm, chill vibe and a relatively relaxed pace. Clinicians have the autonomy to arrange their schedules in ways that work for them.

Full Pay Rate for All Hours Worked?
Yes:
Client Availability and Impact on Pay
1. SLPs are paid for late cancellations (i.e. when the client cancels in under 24 hours and is charged, based on our practice policies).
2. A caseload will need to be built for new hires. Our practice currently has a waiting list for therapy so our expectation is that this build will be relatively quick.
Pay Rate Determiners
The higher end of the range will be applied for candidates with more experience or high-demand skills.
Benefits
No retirement or health insurance benefits are offered at this time.
Stipends (taxed)
None
Reimbursements (untaxed)
All treatment and assessment materials are provided. Requests for new materials are welcome, and new purchases occur multiple times per year. This includes not only formal materials like tests but also toys, art supplies, or whatever you feel will make your therapy effective and enjoyable! We are generous in paying for continuing education. Our team travels to the ASHA convention every year that it is on or near the East Coast. Registration, travel, and lodgings are paid for by the practice. Registration for local or online continuing education events is also available. As the practice owner, I love it when my clinicians express an interest in a new technique or skill and ask to attend training, and I am very happy to invest in their professional growth.
Schedule
Minimum 6 hours per week (288 hours per year).
Because we primarily serve school-aged children, after-school hours and weekend hours are highly valued. We do not dictate which afternoons or weekend days you work, but some availability during these blocks of time is necessary. For example, a candidate who offers availability 2 afternoons per week plus Saturday morning from 9am–12pm would be ideally suited to the role.
Additional Work Hours
Occasionally you may be asked to meet with the owner and/or full clinical staff. These meetings are paid time and will be scheduled a time that works for you.
PTO
NJ mandates paid sick time for all employees, including part-time workers. These hours are accrued at the rate of 1 paid sick hour per every 30 hours worked. PTO for personal or vacation time is not offered, but clinicians are free to work with their clients directly to reschedule (or not) in the way that works best for them.
Holidays
Employees are not expected to work on federal holidays. Pay is not provided for holidays in which the office is closed. Some of our clinicians elect to work on certain holidays, such as President's Day or Veteran's Day if they have client demand and would like to put in the hours, and are welcome to do so.
Productivity Requirements
We do not have a formal policy on productivity, which contributes to a relaxed working environment. Clinicians decide how much they want to work and they are paid for the work they do, including paperwork. If a client frequently cancels, reducing the clinician's productivity, the clinician and the Director will determine how to address the situation. The clinician's wellbeing is prioritized in these decisions.
Caseload Cap
Caseload caps are not necessary in this setting. All therapy is 1:1 unless the clinician would like to offer small-group programs (not required). The clinician decides their maximum caseload.
Dedicated Space
Yes: shared office with others
Parental Leave Policy
We do not offer paid parental leave.
Skills And Competencies
The ideal candidate will demonstrate skill and experience in assessing and treating speech sound disorders, language disorders including ties to literacy, and communication needs related to Autism Spectrum Disorder. SLPs with specialty skills (e.g. fluency, feeding, AAC) are also encouraged to apply. Clinicians are expected to produce and maintain documentation to support insurance reimbursement.

Training program: Our team of 4 SLPs, including the clinician owner, is available to support the onboarding of new staff. A new SLP staff member would be expected to be independent with office practices after about 3 months. In terms of clinical skills, a new staff member would be expected to be largely independent from the outset, but we all need support from time to time! Clinical support is always available from the owner and team members.
