Description
Hinckley-Big Rock CUSD #429 is seeking a passionate, self-starting, motivated Speech and Language Pathologist for the 2025-2026 school year. This position will service students across the district, with a focus on elementary school.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Conducting speech and language screenings and evaluations, providing direct services, as well as support services, within general education, MTSS and special education frameworks.
Providing consultation to teachers and families.
Fostering a positive educational environment that contributes to the growth and development of all children.
Working cooperatively with students, families, teams, staff and the community.
Skills And Competencies
Candidates must be knowledgeable, flexible, and student-centered. Strong communication skills are necessary. Candidates must work well on a team and be willing to share ideas and plan collaboratively with other teachers, related staff, and administration. Experience with autism and related disorders is preferred.

Other required qualifications: The qualified individual must hold an IL Professional Educator License with an endorsement/approval in speech–language pathology.

Pay Rate Determiners
The starting salary for someone with no prior experience is $47,448 take home or $51,718 if you include the district's TRS contribution in the total compensation. Our salary schedule only goes up 7 years to $51,794/$55.670 (with TRS). Someone with more years of experience or additional coursework would receive more by being matched to someone with similar education and years. We anticipate an upper end of $67,206.

Schedule
This position is school based and so the SLP will follow the school calendar, arriving at least 15 minutes before the start of the school day and staying at least 15 minutes after the conclusion of the day.
Additional Work Hours
After work commitments are minimal but include fall/spring parent teacher conferences, curriculum night/open house, weekly PLC meetings (starting at 7:30am on Wednesdays), etc.
PTO
Contract includes 15 sick days per year, which can roll over into the next year, up to a total of 340 days. Two personal days are also allowed, which can roll into sick days the following year.
Holidays
School calendar, which includes time off on most holidays, 2 weeks of winter break and 1 week of spring break.
