Description

The Speech, Language, and Learning Services department at Cleveland Hearing and Speech Center (CHSC) is hiring a full-time (40 hours/week) speech–language pathologist for school services. The start date of the position is ASAP. A highly prepared clinical fellow will be considered. This position follows the school year calendar, with summers off, and is benefits eligible.

School staff receives CE money/time, 401K, Health Insurance.  Benefits are deducted from the paycheck pre-tax. All materials are provided to include laptop, ipad, assessments, and therapy activities.

Travel is reimbursed between sites if travel is necessary.

Salaried employee so if there is a meeting after school hours, then employee would be expected to attend.

Receive 2 personal days a year (no carryover), 7 sick days (carryover up to120 days). Request is sent to the supervisor.

Qualifications

Skills And Competencies

Manage student care involving individuals with verbal, nonverbal, cognitive-linguistic, speech, language, reading/writing, and/or social communication disorders including assessing abilities and needs with ETRs as well as developing and implementing IEP goals to improve the student’s communicative ability, efficiency, and/or effectiveness.

Major Duties and Expectations:  

1. Assess and identify students’ strengths and needs in speech production, language, cognitive-communication and pragmatic skills.
2. Determine the nature and extent of needs using written and oral tests (standardized and non-standardized), dynamic assessment, qualitative assessment, and special instruments or methods designed to record and analyze speech, language, and voice skills.
3. Develop and implement IEPs based on individual needs, including individual/group therapy, multimodal communication (e.g., AAC devices, sign language), and collaboration with outside agencies to coordinate student care.
4. Develop and maintain accurate, thorough clinical records in a timely manner, including but not limited to Evaluation Team Reports (ETRs), Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), daily documentation, Medicaid billing, progress notes, and summaries.
5. Counsel and communicate with students, families, and educational professionals on all aspects of care—including evaluation (methods, results, and recommendations), treatment (methods, facilitating strategies, progress, and carry-over), and discharge (plans, rationale, methods, expectations, and additional resources)—as appropriate.

 

Preferred: 

Proficiency in Ohio school documentation and procedures.

Robust understanding of the IEP and ETR process.

Strong analytical, written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.

Required Qualifications

Required qualifications:

State licenses: Ohio

CCCs required: Yes (we do require CCCs because we are the clinic placement for Case Western Reserve University graduate students)

Does the Contract Include a Non-compete or Non-solicitation?

Yes: non-compete. Permission is needed prior to seek other employment as an SLP in the area.

Training program: The SLP is able to contact the supervisor at any time.  They will shadow the first week and be guided for week two.
