Description

We are seeking a Pediatric Outpatient Clinical Speech Language Pathologist to:

• Provide consultative and developmentally appropriate habilitative and rehabilitative treatment services to complex pediatric patients (infant to adolescent) in an outpatient setting in the domains of voice, feeding/swallowing, airway, and craniofacial anomalies.
• Have interest and some experience with feeding and swallowing difficulties in young children.
• Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to create comprehensive evidence-based patient and family treatment plans to maximize functional outcomes.
• Work within the context of patient- and family- centered care as part of a primary and specialty care academic medical center.  
• See continual learning opportunities to advance one’s own practice and educate others.
 

Skills And Competencies

Work Experience
- Completion of Clinical Speech Language Pathology Fellowship Required. 
- Experience in diagnostics specific to area of specialty Required.
- Experience in providing therapy in the relevant area of specialty (e.g. speech, voice, airway, resonance, or swallow therapy) Required.
- Contribution to local or national professional boards and committees (such as ASHA or state-level speech and hearing associations) Preferred.
- Record of presentation at national and regional professional conferences Preferred. 
- Record of leadership in program development/quality improvement initiatives Preferred.
- Interest in and/or history of seeking mentorship in developing leadership skills Preferred. 

 

Certifications:
- Board Certification in Area of Specialty if available (e.g. BCSS for swallow subspecialty) Preferred

Reimbursements (untaxed)

Reimbursement for ASHA dues provided. 
Up to $2000/year for CE Funds (must be approved by supervisor in advance). 

Quality

Schedule

This is a full-time 1.0 FTE, day shift. Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:00am – 5:00pm, no weekends required. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department. Depending on staffing needs, four (4) 10-hour shifts per week may be an option.
Up to 0.5 days/week may be dedicated to research projects with intent to publish, provided expected benchmarks are met.

Additional Work Hours

Coverage of up to 1 holiday per calendar year (hours are banked in the employee's PTO bank for future use). 

PTO

Employees accrue vacation based on their UW Health Leave Accrual date and hours paid (FTE). For the first 0-4 UW Health Years of Service, employee accrues 120 hours (15 days) of vacation time per calendar year.

Holidays

As noted above, coverage of up to 1 federal holiday per calendar year (hours are banked in the employee's PTO bank for future use). This is PAID time.
There are 8 paid holidays per calendar year.
