Description
At Speech Language Play NYC, we aim to support children and their families with compassionate, individualized care rooted in evidence-based, neuro-affirming practices and play-based learning. We’re seeking a SLP to join our dynamic and collaborative team.
A successful SLP will provide high-quality speech and language therapy to children with a variety of communication needs. This role involves assessing, diagnosing, and treating speech, language, and communication disorders, as well as collaborating with families to support each child’s progress.
Skills And Competencies
Strong understanding of speech and language disorders in children.
Knowledge of evidence-based therapy techniques and intervention strategies.
Familiarity with or interest in learning about gestalt language processing, articulation therapy, and early language development
Understanding of child development and its impact on speech and language skills.
Awareness of assistive communication devices (AAC) and alternative communication methods.
Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and best practices for client confidentiality and documentation.
Ability to conduct comprehensive speech and language assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
Strong clinical reasoning and problem-solving skills to adjust therapy approaches as needed.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for working with clients, families, and colleagues.
Proficiency in record-keeping and report writing to maintain accurate client documentation.
Ability to engage and motivate children in therapy sessions through play-based and interactive techniques.
Demonstrated ability to build rapport with children and their families.
Ability to educate and coach parents on strategies to support speech and language development at home.
Strong time management and organizational skills to manage a caseload efficiently.
Adaptability and creativity in modifying therapy approaches for diverse learning needs.
Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated on best practices.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

$70–110/session
Informed Pay

Median Pay and Range
The median take-home pay is anticipated to be about $90,000 for a full-time SLP staff member.
Full Pay Rate for All Hours Worked?
No. Clinician is paid for client cancellations outside of the cancellation window (24 hours notice) and no-shows.
Client Availability and Impact on Pay
The SLP will be paid fee for service, so their pay will vary based on client availability/cancellation and as their caseload builds.
Pay Rate Determiners
The rate is determined by number of years of work experience as an SLP and advanced training in the areas of speech and language relevant to the practice.

Stipends (taxed)
$50/month CEU/PD stipend
Reimbursements (untaxed)
SLPs are reimbursed for travel between sessions. They are also provided with treatment and assessment materials and have access to a CEU/PD stipend for continuing education.
Schedule
Monday–Friday, with the option to work Saturday if interested. The SLP can choose their hours, with the majority of sessions taking place between 8am–6pm.
