Description
We are excited to advertise for a full-time speech–language pathologist to serve students in Grades K-4 at Camden-Rockport Elementary School and students in Grades 9-12 at Camden Hills Regional High School. This is a new position with days split between the two schools (located within 5 minutes walking distance, or less than 1 minute driving). As part of the special education team in both buildings, the SLP will be responsible for providing diagnostic and intervention services for students with speech, language and hearing disorders. The role will include supporting the elementary-level caseload (approx. 10–12 students with case management of less than 5) and managing the high school speech caseload (approx. 30 students, including consult). Maine state licensure is required.

Comfortable with providing therapy (articulation, language, fluency, social-pragmatic) and assessment for students in grades K-4 as well as 9-12.

This position is salaried and pays the full salary listed in your contract (as determined by step/number of degrees) for working the contracts 7.5 hours per day, 5 days per week.
Pay Rate Determiners
Pay is determined by Step, with approximately $1,000–3,000 between each step. For example, for individuals with a Masters degree for the 2025–26 school year Step 0 (no previous experience) is $55,649; Step 5 (5 years of experience) is $63,163; Step 10 (10 years of experience) is $72,441; etc. Pay will also increase if you hold two or three advanced degrees.

You are expected to work 7.5 hours per day; exact start times will depend on which school you are at (e.g. Camden-Rockport Elementary School's staff workday is 7:15am–2:45pm), and how your schedule is arranged working between the elementary and high school.
Additional Work Hours
Most IEP meetings are held during the school day; occasionally IEP meetings start before the end of the teacher day (e.g. 2:00pm) and run beyond contract hours (e.g. 3:30pm).

Parental Leave Policy
Per the CRES contract: Pregnancy and after-care of a newborn or adopted child shall be valid reasons for parental leave. Up to 60 days of accumulated sick time may be taken for parental leave. Additionally, each Professional shall be entitled to a child caring leave of absence without pay for up to 1 year immediately following the birth or adoption of a child, inclusive of sick time that is used. Under such circumstances (unpaid leave), for 6 months the Professional's MEA Benefits Trust health insurance coverage would continue.

CF details: There are two experienced SLPs in-district, including one who will be present at the elementary school. Amount of direct and indirect supervision and support can be tailored to your specific needs and desires as a clinician.
Training program: All district staff have four workshop and prep days at the start of the school year; new-to-district staff have additional training days prior to the start of the school year. New staff (including clinical fellows) are assigned an appropriate in-school mentor, with whom you may typically meet once per week. Training is provided for the IEP system. Special education administrators are present at all IEP meetings, and will take the lead in speech-only meetings until you are comfortable leading as case manager.
